From Barista Training to Art Exhibition: Luke’s Inspiring Journey

Luke's journey shows how dedication and creativity can lead to unexpected opportunities. Starting as an employment support customer, Luke attended a Barista training program to gain new skills and confidence. His hard work paid off when he began volunteering at the Hat Works Café, where he quickly became a valued team member.

While working at the café, Luke's artistic talents shone through in a surprising way. As Easter approached, he created a foiled bunny as a festive decoration. The charming creation caught everyone’s eye and became an instant hit among customers and staff alike. The positive response to his bunny inspired Luke to explore his creativity further.

Word spread about Luke’s artistic flair, leading to an exciting opportunity: an exhibition of his work at the café. Now, the Hat Works Café proudly displays a collection of Luke’s art, allowing visitors to enjoy his unique pieces alongside their coffee.

Luke’s story is a reminder that with the right support and a willingness to try new things, unexpected talents can flourish, leading to rewarding and fulfilling experiences.

The installation is on display in the Hat Works Cafe exhibition space which is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00-16:00 and Saturdays from 11:00-15:00, from July 27th – September 21st.

5 Energy Tips to help you budget for winter

  • If you have a prepayment meter make sure you make regular top-ups during summer. This will help to build up credit ahead of winter and will be charged at the unit rate you bought it at.
  • Submit meter readings regularly. Estimated bills may cause payments to increase in winter
  • Review your energy tariff. Fix into a cheaper tariff now ahead of any winter increases.
  • Adjust your heating settings. Turning down thermostats or switching off the heating altogether can help save money ahead of winter
  • Drying your laundry outside or on a rack instead of using the tumble dryer will help reduce energy costs.
