Dear colleagues and friends, After three years of Covid and one year of war, the world is different than we could have imagined until recently. It is worth remembering that the AEC emerged 70 years ago as a reconciliation project after a devastating imperialist war of aggression in the middle of Europe. The extensive and positive experiences that AEC has had in these 70 years with cross-border activities, which will continue to contribute to promoting and strengthening the idea of a united Europe, should give us courage for the future. Best wishes, Stefan Gies, AEC Chief Executive This month, we look back at the relationship between AEC and the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) through the testimony of Karen Moynahan, the Executive Director of NASM, which supports and nurtures professional music study in the United States. Unity is strength! AEC is regularly joining and sometimes initiating joint advocacy activities together with partners in the cultural sector. Our association particularly benefits from joining forces with other networks and organisations in the cultural community. Registrations are now open for the upcoming AEC European Platform for Artistic Research in Music (EPARM) which will take place at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and online on 30 March – 1 April 2023. On 14 February, MusiQuE organised a webinar for the members of Young Music Talents in Europe about external quality enhancement reviews at pre-college level. AEC members are encouraged to contribute to the desk research on training practices conducted by IncluMusic partners, focusing on inclusion and Special Education Needs (SEN), addressed to Higher Music Education (HME) teachers and administrative staff. The fifth edition of the METRIC Intensive Programme (IP) took place in Leipzig, Germany on 15-19 February. METRIC's mission is "Modernizing European Higher Music Education through Improvisation." February marked two important milestones for the AEC: the final Stakeholder Assembly of the PRIhME Project and the AEC Pop & Jazz Platform. Both events were held in Rome (Italy). LOST MUSIC is looking for a content creator. Help bring innovation in the world of classical music orchestras and provide citizens access to re-discover their culture through music and history.
