Sunday Edition
Good morning lovely members! Happy Sunday. I (Maddie) hope you have had a good week so far and are looking forward to a relatively relaxing day. I know I sure am! It’s been another big week here at the Seniors Discount Club but honestly when isn’t it? The good news is, Jon is back in Australia on Tuesday so we have an extra pair of hands to tackle the madness that comes with this time of year! We are very much looking forward to having him back in the office. We’ve missed him!
Now, a Sunday wouldn’t be a Sunday here at the SDC without divulging the quote of the week! This week’s quote is one I hold very close to my heart.
‘Small steps are better than no steps.’
I say this quote a lot to myself and my loved ones. I just think it’s such a good thing to remind yourself and your loved ones of, and it’s something you can implement both physically and mentally. Let’s say, for example, you haven’t been able to do as much walking as you used to. Remind yourself, that small steps are better than no steps at all. Perhaps that means you do a few laps of the hallway, it’s better than nothing at all. It’s also something you can remind yourself of when you’re trying to do something new or challenging and it’s just not happening as quickly as you would like. Maybe you’re knitting your first scarf, trying yoga, or another new skill. Practice, practice, practice. Even the small steps are still a step in the right direction.
One more thing before I jump into this week’s news! I just want to remind you all about our Christmas Giveaway. We will be giving away five $100 vouchers at random to members who have a profile on our forum. If you already have a profile, then you are already running! If you don’t, you can read how to set your profile up here so you can go into the running too.

Today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is brought to you by the lovely member, @Vin. This story made me laugh so much! So thank you for sharing this with us, @Vin! ‘My favourite Christmas memory happened when I was 9 and my brother was 7. Our grandmother whom we lived with took us to see Santa at Grace Brothers in Broadway Sydney. We sat on his lap and told him what we wanted. Colin got off his lap and went back to nanna and Santa said to me. Now Vinlei mind you don’t get ants in your pants I was so shocked I told nanna and she went up to him to ask why he said that and came back laughing and didn’t tell me why. She told me when I was a teenager Santa was my uncle
and I didn’t know it.’ Oh my goodness, I can just picture the uncle having the time of his life shocking little Vin! Those cheeky uncles, eh?

Birds of Australia
Wow. How remarkable is this photo that was posted on our forum by member @Simmy? I cannot believe how close and detailed it is. This is what @Simmy captioned the photograph with, ‘portrait of a juvenile Wedge-tailed Eagle taken in Kalbarri during a WA Birds of Prey country tour in 2020’. A wedge-tailed eagle! Gosh, it’s not every day you come across a bird like this. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all, @Simmy! You’re extremely talented.
