Good Morning , Welcome to the December Wellbeing Check-in!
Getting Through the “Silly Season” with a Clear Mind and Calm Spirit 🎄✨ The Christmas season is full of lights, laughs and celebrations, but it can also be busy, stressful and honestly… a little overwhelming. Between shopping, social events, pressure to be festive 24/7, and the general December chaos, it’s easy to forget to look after yourself. Here are some simple, feel-good tips to help you stay calm, grounded and joyful this Christmas:
1. Lean on Your Support Crew: Stay connected with people who uplift you, and reach out when the season starts to feel overwhelming.
2.Stay Within Your Financial Comfort Zone:
Set a simple budget and stick to it — thoughtful, low-cost gifts are completely valid.
3.Do One Small Thing “For You” Each Day:
Choose a daily moment of self-care, whether it’s a quiet coffee, a walk or your favourite music.
4.Build in Quiet Time: Schedule small pockets of rest each day; even 10 minutes of calm can reset your whole mood.
See something, say something! This month we are focusing on Good Housekeeping! What is Good Housekeeping? Good housekeeping means keeping your work area clean, neat and tidy.
By doing this, we can prevent hazards that may cause injury or illness and create a safer, more organised workplace. How Can You Make Sure You’re Practising Good Housekeeping?Always remember to: Clean as you go – put tools, equipment or materials back where they belong. Clean up spills immediately – this helps prevent slips and falls. Stack and store items neatly – reducing the risk of objects falling and injuring someone. Dispose of rubbish properly – keep walkways clear and avoid creating trip hazards. Keep containers correctly labelled and stored – ensure all materials, chemicals, or supplies are properly marked and safely put away.
And remember, good housekeeping doesn’t stop at work!
A tidy home helps reduce stress, boosts your mood and creates a calmer space to unwind.
Simple habits like decluttering, putting things back in place, and keeping walkways clear can help create a safer, calmer and more comfortable home environment.
Get Involved in December:
Get into the Christmas spirit by decorating your work area, whether that is your desk, chair, door or equipment on Tuesday 16 Decemeber.
Please ensure all decorations are safe, secure and don’t interfere with your work environment or equipment. Send your photos to wellbeing@bedfordgroup.com.au to be included in the next update.
As we approach the Christmas season, it’s a great time to strengthen your social connections and enjoy the company of your friends and family, or simply sit back and relax. Spending time with people you care about can boost your mood, reduce stress, and help you feel more supported and connected. We understand that the Christmas season can feel lonely for some, so we’re encouraging you to reach out to feel seen and heard. Here are some suggestions to stay connected and feel less anxious during the festive season:
Visit or call your loved ones. If you can’t be together in person, a phone or video call is a great way to maintain connection. Host a small celebration. Invite friends over for a festive film, dinner, or a fun local activity. Get out and enjoy your community. Attend local events or explore activities with colleagues and friends. Volunteer your time. Giving back to others can ease feelings of loneliness and provide a strong sense of purpose during the festive season.

Joke of the month:Why don't eggs tell jokes?
Because they might crack up!
Safety Discussion of the Month: Good Housekeeping In October, poor housekeeping was the most frequently identified and reported hazard. Keeping your work area tidy, neat, and clean is key to preventing slips, trips, and falls. Always store items safely, clean up spills promptly, and maintain clear walkways.
This Toolbox Talk outlines the correct steps to maintain a clean and orderly work area, prevent hazards, and report poor housekeeping effectively — without putting yourself or others at risk.
People Leaders (managers, supervisors and EDCs): please ensure you discuss safety practices with your teams this month.
