A common question received when discussing utilizing the curriculum is how it’s different from other programs. Speaking with Academic Innovations staff earlier this year, David Holley, administrator at Atascadero High School, addressed this question well.

“AVID was more trying to build the college skills. And I think [Career Choices] is more about preparing like the mindset, too. It's more like the roadmap. So like while AVID may focus on certain reading skills and study skills and note taking skills and collaboration skills and presenting skills. But it's not clear as far as what that roadmap is. Now, [Career Choices] is ‘Where do I see myself?’ ‘Who am I?’ ‘What's my personal identity?’ or ‘What are my strengths?’”
