Hello there,Lots of exciting news to share with you all: a survey to help us serve you better, a rush to the top of Tower 42, a brand new 'Question of the Month' and news on our new health care worker. I would love your feedback on how we are doing at Bow Lane... How can we improve? At Bow Lane we are always looking to improve the level of care and service we provide. We are human and occasionally drop the ball so we would love to have honest feedback. We understand you are busy so for every completed survey, Bow Lane will give a donation to the Sick Children’s Trust. SponsorshipQuestion of the monthQ: What is Root canal?Root canal treatment is required when the nerves and blood vessels of a tooth become inflamed or infected. This is caused by bacteria entering the tooth. This can happen from tooth decay, cracks or trauma. If root treatment is not carried out it could lead to persistent infection and the tooth needing to be removed. Sameena is a specialist endodontist. She will use specialist equipment such as a microscope to check for cracks within the tooth. The inner part of the tooth (root canal system) is prepared and disinfected to remove any inflamed or infected tissue. A root filling material is then placed in the inner part of the tooth to reduce bacterial re-entry. A tooth coloured filling is placed in the tooth itself. After root canal treatment has been completed a crown may be required to reduce the risk of fracture and bacterial leakage in the future.
