Prevailing Wage & The Davis Bacon Act
Brush up on your prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon Act knowledge by attending the March 26th Prevailing Wage and Davis-Bacon Act Seminar, presented by Tony Stergio, with Andrew Myers, P.C. Tony will guide attendees through the applicability of Davis-Bacon laws, misclassification of laborers and mechanics, payment of prevailing wages, certified payroll mistakes, downstream liability for contractors, and much more!
ASA Houston Supports CIEF Design Build Competition
ASA Houston is happy to support the CIEF Design Build Competition being held March 27-28 at Lone Star College. The CIEF Design Build Competition promotes career awareness of the construction industry among high school students through hands-on experience in the construction process and a first-hand look at future opportunities in the industry. The competition also allows the construction industry to support, partner with, and mentor schools, students, and career technical education programs. Each participating team is challenged to design, plan, and construct a 96-sq. ft. structure that meets a set of criteria established under the advisement of industry professionals. Teams compete at NO COST to any student or school through donations, sponsorships, and grants. Here are just a few ways you can help!
- Judging Opportunities - we're seeking industry leaders to come out and judge.
- Donate Materials - we are still seeking donations of a crane to help with the structure removal process, lumber, generators, and forklifts.
- Become a team sponsor - sponsor a team that is participating in the design build competition.
- Become an event sponsor - help underwrite the event for the students! See flyer attached of the various levels and benefits.
- Attend the industry lunch - March 28th at Lone Star College from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm come out to cheer on the students and celebrate student success.
Schmooze and Mingle with Vaughn Construction
Save the date for the ASA Houston Chapter Schmooze and Mingle with Vaughn Construction! Representatives from Vaughn Construction will be on hand to meet with ASA Members in a casual and fun atmosphere as they discuss project partnership opportunities. Bring your business cards and get ready to network!
