Kaya ,

Tourism leaders from across Australia arrived in Perth/Boorloo on Monday for the 2025 Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) Meeting Place, which provided a platform for Western Australia's tourism operators to connect with buyers representing Australia's key international markets.

With more than 530 tourism industry leaders, including 120 international buyers, in attendance at this event, it was fantastic to see so many influential voices in tourism gathered here—bringing global attention to WA.

Ahead of ATEC Meeting Place, many of our delegates have been out and about exploring the stunning surrounds of Perth, Fremantle/Walyalup, the Swan Valley and Rottnest Island/Wadjemup, taking in the natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality that make WA such a standout destination.

Having this incredible mix of industry experts right here in WA is a golden opportunity to connect and collaborate with trade partners and shine a spotlight on the world-class tourism experiences our state has to offer.

Speaking of incredible opportunities to showcase our Dream State to the world, Perth was officially selected as the presumptive host city for the 2030 Gay Games XIII earlier this week. Hosting the Gay Games will be a landmark moment for WA, with Perth being only the second city in Oceania to host what is the world’s largest LGBTQIA+ sporting and cultural event.

Supported by Tourism WA and secured after a successful bid from Pride WA, this vibrant cultural event will bring thousands of athletes, supporters, and visitors from around the globe to WA. Beyond the celebration of diversity and inclusion, the event is expected to deliver significant economic benefits, boosting local businesses, and creating jobs across the hospitality, events, and service sectors. It’s a powerful opportunity to showcase the vibrancy, beauty, and welcoming spirit of our state on a global stage.

Warm regards,

Tourism WA Executive Management Team.
