Good morning
Good morning, members, and welcome to the final day of 2023! Wow, I (Maddie) cannot believe we are here. The final day of 2023?! Oh my, I remember last year's New Year's Eve like it was yesterday. But somehow, here we are again, one year older and wiser. 😉
I think the final day of the year is an important day to take a moment, acknowledge that whether this was your best year, your worst year, or somewhere in between, you’re still here, and that’s something to be thankful for. There is no doubt this time of year isn’t all joy and happiness for everyone, sometimes it is challenging, and that’s okay. Whether you have some big party planned for tonight, or you’re just staying in, I hope you take some time to reflect, because at the end of the day, we’re still here, and I think that’s something to celebrate.
As for me, I’ll be staying in. You know me, members, I love a quiet New Year’s Eve at home, watching the fireworks and getting to bed nice and early. As for those of you who prefer a big one, remember, nothing good happens after 3am! Unless you can prove me wrong, I’d love to read your stories of good things happening after 3am. 😂
That’s enough rambling from me, what’s happening across Australia and around the world today?

Christmas carols defeating Alzheimer’s
Wow, members. This incredible memory shared by member @Rosita1950 left my jaw on the floor! You have to read it to believe it. ‘My Mum was deep into her Alzheimer's journey. She was reduced to just one word.. "Tan, Tan, Tan..." Although we were not sure what she meant by it. On Christmas Eve, we brought her home for the night from the nursing home. We all sat around the Christmas tree by candlelight singing Christmas carols. Suddenly, Mum started to sing Away in a Manger, one of her favourite carols. She sang the whole song!! Every word!! We were amazed. It was our Christmas miracle. Afterwards she again retreated back to her single word. She
passed away 6 months later, but we always hold that memory close to our hearts.’ If this wasn’t a Christmas miracle, I don’t know what is! If you have a nostalgic memory you’d like to share on our forum, post it here.

Lakes of Canada
Isn’t Mother Nature just remarkable? Member @Ninerbravo captured the beauty of one of the lakes in Canada, but explained that photos do not do it justice. It’s hard to imagine how much more beautiful this lake could be? The blue and green hues of the water are breathtaking. I know the water would be freezing cold, but looking at it just makes me want to jump right in! Thank you so much for sharing this with us member @Ninerbravo. If you want to share your photography skills, don’t be shy! Post your photos here.
