Thursday Edition
Good morning members, and welcome to another Thursday edition of our newsletter. My, how the week flies by! It's as if we just blinked, and it was Thursday again. It's been quite a busy start to 2023, hasn't it? Reunions, celebrations, new beginnings - it's all been happening! And next week, I (Vella) will be turning a year older. There's so much going on and so much to look forward to! Ah, I just love this time of year. This feeling of optimism and joy that comes with the New Year is just so refreshing, don't you think? It reminds me of a quote I once read, 'Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.' It's a good reminder to appreciate all the little moments that make life special.
Anyway, enough from me. It's time to get to today's newsletter. First things first, let’s give you all the answer to yesterday's tricky riddle:
If there are fifteen crows on a fence, and the farmer shoots a third of them, how many crows are left?
The answer is none! That's right, the answer is none because the rest of the crows flew away when they heard the gunshot. Clever, right? As expected, a ton of you got the answer correct! And you know what that means, right? You get a shout-out! So stick around, and you'll find a shout-out waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Now, members, it's time to share with you a Fascinating Fact!
If you were to lay out all of the veins, capillaries and arteries in one adult, end-to-end, they would stretch about 100,000 kilometres. That's enough to go around the world twice! By comparison, the circumference of the Earth is approximately 40,000 km. That means a person's blood vessels could wrap around the planet about 2.5 times. Quite amazing, don’t you think?
Now then, what's happening in Australia and around the world in the news today?

Today’s Yesterday’s Australia segment is a lovely memory brought to us by our dear member @Valentid1960. ‘As kids, we loved summer holidays. We’d go down to the swamp, collect tadpoles, bring them home, and watch them grow into frogs. The billy carts would come out and make any repairs. Dad was a delivery driver for Cadbury, so he was able to get wooden crates from milk bars. Whenever someone moved into the street, our parents would have a party for them. The ladies would be inside drinking Sherry or Shandy, and the men were outside on the balcony drinking beer.’
Aww! The memories of our childhood summer holidays will always be vivid and full of joy. From collecting tadpoles to building and racing billy carts, we always had something exciting to do. Nothing beats a lovely summer memory such as this. Thank you so much for sharing this precious childhood memory with us, @Valentid60!
