Saturday Edition
Welcome to another wonderful weekend, members! Woohoo! That was quite the week, wasn’t it? We’re sure you’re all looking forward to spending some quality time with family and friends today. We hope the weather is good where you are so you can all get outside and enjoy the sunshine! We’re having some gorgeous weather here in Sydney, so we’ll definitely be taking advantage of the vitamin D boost.
Oh, we also have a language recommendation from our member Diane T who suggested we learn good morning in Tongan! Here we go: Malo tau ma’u e pongipongi ni (mah-loh-tow mow-oo ey pong-pong-ee nee), members!
Next up, we have the answer to yesterday’s riddle! Let’s take a look:
How do you make the number one disappear?
And the answer is… by adding the letter ‘G’! We love this little pun! We hope you enjoyed this one. If you got it correct, you’ll find a shout-out waiting for you a little further down in the newsletter.
Let’s move on to our next segment, 'What Would the Grandkids Say?' Today’s phrase is 'out of pocket'. We’ve been using this phrase when you have spent more money than you intended to. However, nowadays, the grandkids use it when someone says something inappropriate. When you say something that is 'out of pocket’, it means you have said something that is not your place to say. It can also be used to describe someone who is acting out of control or inappropriately. So the next time your grandkids act up, tell them they are 'out of pocket!'
Oh, and before we forget, ALDI has a new range of products in their Special Buys this week! There are some great deals on gardening and camping essentials, so be sure to check them out!

Image source: Australia Remember When FB Page
For today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment, we have a lovely memory from member @KarenD. ‘We came to Australia when I was 7. I remember moving around a lot due to dad's job, but then we finally settled in WA in a suburb called Morley Park. We could see the drive-in screen from our front verandah and front lawn. But what I remember most is on the hot balmy nights, mum and dad would drag our bed mattresses outside for my brother and I to lay on and watch whatever movie was on in the drive-in even though we couldn't hear anything. Mum and
dad didn't appear worried or concerned. We just laid there until the wee hours and then went back inside. It was fun.’
Aww, that sounds like such a lovely memory, Karen! It’s so sweet to imagine the family all snuggled up on their mattresses, looking up at the big screen. I bet those are the kind of memories that will stay with you forever. Thank you for sharing this wonderful memory with us!
