Thursday Edition
Good morning, members! Welcome to another lovely Thursday. Oh my, how the week has flown by! It's as if we just blinked, and it was Thursday again. But we're not complaining because aside from getting closer to the weekend, Thursdays also mean it's time for a jam-packed newsletter filled with interesting things like jokes, news stories, facts and more! So without further ado, let's get started!
First things first, it’s time to give you all the answer to yesterday’s tricky riddle. For those of you who don't remember, the riddle goes:
Where will you be able to find the 9 reindeer?
Where? Well, of course, it depends on where you left them! Gosh, we got you good with that one, didn't we? But a few of you got it correct! So stick around, and you'll find a shout-out waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Next on the agenda for today, it's time to share a Fascinating Fact!
Did you know that Christmas pudding wasn’t always like a cake? It used to be a thick soup! Yep, that's right. The Christmas pudding as we know it today actually evolved from a 14th-century English dish called ‘frumenty’. Frumenty was a thick porridge made from beef and mutton with currants, prunes, raisins, wines and spices. It was eaten as a fasting meal in preparation for the Christmas festivities. Over time, the dish evolved into the plum pudding we know and love today. How's that for a bit of Christmas trivia?

Today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is a lovely memory from member @Los. ‘One Favourite Christmas memory was from when my mother and I went to Fiji for Xmas; I was just ten years old. I was very worried that Santa wouldn’t know I was in Fiji and wouldn’t know where to deliver my gifts. We had a very exciting time - especially when the big hotel in Suva put on a Christmas party for all the staff and their families and invited us/me as I was the only child guest staying in the hotel. Santa at the party was a very large Fijian man - wearing one of those celluloid masks you used to be able to buy, so he looked like a white Santa! The party was lovely but what was even
more special was that I got a gift - a box of embroidered hankies which I kept and used until well into adulthood. Then it was Christmas Eve, and my anxiety was high, but my mum assured me Santa would find me.’ Read the rest of the story here.
Oh my gosh, this is such a sweet memory! I love that you were so worried about Santa finding you in Fiji, but Santa was right there with you all along — your mum! What a heartwarming story. Thank you for sharing this lovely memory, @Los!
