Tuesday Edition
Good morning members, and welcome to another Tuesday edition of our newsletter. My, what a treat it is to see you all here today! How are we all feeling? I (Vella) am feeling great today. I think it's because I'm still high on love and joy from the weekend, and I'm so excited to tell you all about it. It was my friend's wedding and it was a truly magical day. Everything was perfect, from the weather to the food to the company. It was a mini-reunion as I got to catch up with friends I hadn't seen in ages, which was lovely. And, of course, the bride looked drop-dead gorgeous. It was a truly wonderful day, and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.
Did I cry? Of course I did! How could you not cry when the bride walks down the aisle while the wedding singer sings Haley Reinhart's rendition of ‘Can't Help Falling In Love’? I just bawled my eyes out! It was so beautiful. It was a garden wedding, too, which added to the perfect ambience.
And that's not all! I also caught the bouquet! So, according to wedding tradition, I'm the next one in line to get married. Hmm, we'll see about that! Ah, it really was a weekend for the books…
Okay, enough about me; let's move on to the answer to yesterday's riddle.
What always runs but never walks, often murmurs, never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a mouth but never eats?
The answer is… a river! We had quite a few of you who got this one correct. Well done! If you did, then head to the bottom of the newsletter for a special shout-out just for you!
Oh! One more thing before we jump into today’s stories. We have launched our first competition of 2023! All you have to do for your chance to win a $100 voucher to Coles, Woolies, ALDI or IGA is to come up with a six-letter ‘Aussie Word’ (or at least slightly Aussie) for our
new six-letter version of OzWord! Super easy, right? The more entries you make, the more chances you have to win! So get in, and good luck!

Today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is thanks to member @ElizaKaye. ‘I grew up in a small coastal village during World War II with approx 5000 air force people living in the nearby aerodrome. We could walk anywhere we wanted to, we didn’t have to lock our doors, and we could go swimming in the river or the surf. We never had any shark alarms. We had a local ‘blue pool’ left after making the aerodrome runway. We used to swim the river (no bridge) and walk for many miles on the other side, visiting daisy hill and viewing the wildflowers, the kangaroo tails, Xmas bells, boronia, flannel flowers etc.’ Read the rest of @ElizaKaye’s lovely memory here.
Wow, @ElizaKaye, your childhood sounds like a true paradise! It’s a true testament to the human spirit's strength and resilience to create such a special place amid a world war. Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories with us.
