Capability Index launched

We're excited to announce the launch of the CODA Capability Index on our website!

This open access platform allows organisations to create profiles showcasing their involvement in the decommissioning industry. By compiling a comprehensive list of companies operating within or providing services to the decommissioning sector, the Capability Index aims to foster connectivity and increase the visibility of these valuable capabilities on both local and global scales.

One of the key features of the Capability Index is its filterable system, which enables users to search for specific capabilities and regions of operation. This functionality allows organisations to pinpoint potential partners or service providers with the expertise and geographical reach they require. By streamlining the search process, the index saves time and resources while promoting collaboration within the decommissioning industry.

Each organisation's profile within the Capability Index includes important information such as their logo, a brief description, and contact details. This ensures that users can quickly identify and connect with potential collaborators or service providers.

Accessible to all, increase your organisation's visibility by adding your profile to the Capability Index.

CODA at Offshore Europe

It was a very busy few days for CODA's Francis Norman and Shaun Sadler, as they recently attended the 50th SPE Offshore Europe in Aberdeen, Scotland!

During the event, CODA took part in a number of duscission panels in the Bureau Veritas New Opportunities Theatre.

Vision for an Integrated Supply Chain

CODA General Manager Shaun Saddler joined Dawn Robertson of Bureau Veritas for a discussion chaired by Sam Long of Decom Mission, where they considered the challenges and opportunities of establishing an integrated supply chain for the decommissioning industry. With decommissioning increasingly being seen as a global industry it was clear from the discussion that there is a need to work globally on connecting companies and organisations to deliver the best possible outcomes.

A sectoral Shift? Rising International Demand for Decommissioning Services

Chaired by Decom Mission’s Callum Falconer, panellists Dawn Robertson of Bureau Veritas, Laurence Milne of Petrofac, Flavia Silva of UK Dept of Business and Trade, Brazil, Chris Mountford of James Fisher offshore and CODA’s Francis Norman discussed international opportunities in decommissioning with specific focusses on Brazil, Australia and Asia Pacific

What’s new in Decommissioning

CODA CEO Francis Norman joined Sam Long and Callum Falconer from our UK counterpart Decom Mission, as well as Pete Allport from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Richard Neilson, Director of the National Decommissioning Centre, to talk about the latest developments in decommissioning strategy and practice.

Building Careers in Decommissioning

Francis Norman was this time joined by Dr. Karen McArdle from the National Decommissioning Centre, Taylor Erridge from James Fisher Offshore, Darren Elder from Ashtead Technologies and Mohd Zamri bin Abdul Ghani, Senior General Manager at Petronas for a panel chaired by Board Chair for Decom Mission, Jinda Nelson, to discuss Building Careers in Decommissioning.

It was great to see both Taylor and Darren in their as representatives of Decom Mission’s Emerging Professionals in Late Life & Decommissioning Network.

Decontamination facility visit

CODA CEO Francis Norman and General Manager Shaun Sadler were proud to have been invited to TradeBe's decontamination facility in Aberdeen, Scotland. This facility has been providing NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) scale removal and disposal services to the North Sea oil and gas industry for over 40 years.

During the visit, Shaun and Francis met with CEO Guillermo Mari Guillot, Business Development Manager Derek Richardson, and RPS Manager Steven Beverley. They received an overview of TradeBe Scotoil's extensive experience in managing contaminated equipment and took a tour of the facility to see their expertise in handling complex equipment during the decontamination process.

Able Seaton Port visit

Prior to attending SPE Offshore Europe, Shaun and Francis had the opportunity to visit Able Ports UK’s Seaton decommissioning facility and meet with commercial director Mark Ellis.

Located in the centre of the UK, the port covers 51 hectares including a 10 hectare dry dock (currently wet) – one of the world’s largest.

In the meeting they discussed the history of the facility, many of its significant decommissioning projects in both the oil and gas and maritime industries and had the opportunity to tour the facility and see first-hand its size and ability to accommodate very large pieces of equipment for dismantling and recycling.
