MPS NEWSLETTER November 2024 3, 2, 1...BLAST OFF!This month we learned about all things outer space! We started out by dedicating one day per week to a different planet in our solar system, coming up with silly songs to remember facts and pairing art projects, games, and science projects to reflect the unique characteristics of each planet. Our planet activities included: working with Oreos to match the moon phases, ice cube painting for Uranus, ring tossing for Saturn, marble painting for Jupiter, a STEM cloud experiment for Neptune, and building out our sensory bin with kinetic sand for Mars! I hope you feel as impressed and proud of your kiddos as much as Teacher Bodhi and I do. They really took to this curriculum theme and have found a love and interest for science. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This month we began using the blackboard during morning circle. Our Today Is...helps us learn the days of the week, months, and numbers beyond 10 with the date. We also practice observation skills for the daily weather report.Friends are loving this morning circle addition, eager to participate in the special task of updating the board. With such a positive response, MPS will be introducing weekly jobs starting January. Jobs such as snack helper, clean up fairy, and line leader will support the development of child responsibility and feelings of being an integral part of the community. ![]() ![]() ![]() Solar System Paper MachéEach kiddo was assigned a planet to build our large, classroom solar system. This was a tricky, multi-step project involving newspaper, glue, and paint. This activity developed our bilateral coordination skills and deepened our understand of spatial relationships (working with sphere-like objects is tough work)! ![]() ![]() ![]() December CurriculumWe will be Welcoming Winter during our brief December together. There will be lots of cozy arts and crafts projects to make MPS feel warm, festive, and celebratory. On Tuesday, December 14th at 4:00PM, MPS will host a winter solstice celebration. All families are invited to join us at school for hot cocoa, cookie decorating, and a small performance put on by your kiddos! Please note MPS will be closed from December 23rd - January 3rd for the winter break. With love and gratitude, Teacher Maura and Teacher Bodhi |
