Year in Review 2022/23

In the past 12 months Grains Australia has moved out of its establishment phase and is now focused on consistent delivery of value.

The Year in Review report highlights achievements made by Grains Australia in delivering on its purpose in 2022/23.

Grains Australia's purpose is to manage classification, market access, and market insights and education to enhance competitiveness and profitability.

INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT

 

Constructive engagement with China

Positive engagement with China was achieved during a visit to that country by Grains Australia personnel and industry partners earlier this year.

“Grains Australia is actively looking for ways to build on this engagement and ensure Australia and China can create a stronger partnership and work towards achieving benefits for both parties,” Grains Australia Chief Executive Officer Richard Simonaitis said.

Grains Australia represented in Jakarta

Representing Grains Australia at the Indonesia Australia Business Conference in Jakarta recently was General Manager Trade and Market Access John Ackerman, who spoke in a session on sustaining trade and investment.

Mr Ackerman has long-standing ties with Indonesia and is an adviser to the Indonesia Australia Business Council (IABC).

Program forges ties with Indonesia

Grains Australia CEO Richard Simonaitis was in Indonesia recently for the final part of the Grains Value Chain Leadership program, from which the first group of 25 has now graduated. 

The collaborative program is strengthening grassroots relationships with private sector grains industry representatives from Indonesia, which is Australia’s biggest wheat customer over time.

Andrew Young

New Grains Australia Chair announced

October 2023

Experienced Western Australian agribusiness senior executive and director Andrew Young has been appointed Chair of Grains Australia.

Mr Young replaces inaugural Chair and respected industry leader Terry Enright who stepped down from the Board following Grains Australia’s recent annual general meeting, having served as Chair since Grains Australia’s inception in 2020.

Pulse Australia operations merged into Grains Australia

October 2023

Pulse Australia and Grains Australia have completed a merger of core Pulse Australia operations into Grains Australia.

The merger is effected by the transfer of Pulse Australia functions to Grains Australia, which will take responsibility for pulse technical functions associated with trade and market access, pulse varietal classification and market insights and education on behalf of the Australian pulse industry.
