A group of 22 gelatin silver print proof photographs (3.25 x 2 inches, or the reverse), affixed to peach-colored folder with manuscript title to front panel (Nuit du 27/5/73) and ink index captions beneath photos. A late example of one of Malick Sidibé's "chemises;" the idiosyncratic form through which the Malian photographer would catalogue the results of his nightly social photography in the vibrant capital of Bamako, often venturing back to his studio late at night to develop the negatives for display to prospective customers the next morning. Here, for the night of Sunday, May 27, 1973, Sidibé captures 22 candid photographs of partygoers at a youth club event; on some nights, Sidibé would produce up to 5 such chemises.
