It is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington Fruit and Vegetable Co-operative.
The Co-op has faced several challenges in recent years, all compounded by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The changing behaviours of our clientele, and our restricted operation during higher alert levels, have made business continuity increasingly difficult.
Since we opened, we've been delighted to be able to deliver healthy produce to our small base of clients, but ultimately the project is no longer viable. The Co-op is funded through the Student Services Levy, and while we're sad to be closing, we know the funds will be used in other initiatives that support our fellow students.
The Co-op will be closing its doors at the end of 2021, with the last orders to be collected on Thursday 2 December. Read on to find out more.
