NEWS UPDATE

09 October 2026

Publishers note

You can appreciate the respect an event enjoys through the attitude and effort of its exhibitors. Two shows are coming up next weekend: the Melbourne Boat Show kicks off on Thursday, while Sail Expo in Newport, Sydney, runs over the weekend. Marine Business News has been impressed by the news from exhibitors preparing to launch or showcase their products and services at both. Best wishes to everyone exhibiting.

I’ll be heading to Melbourne mid-week to see the show and catch up with industry. Please let me know if you have time for a catch-up. I have plenty of news to share and will make time to see you. All going well, I’ll also be at Sail Expo on Sunday, and happy to chat with those who have time.

From my days studying the Australian marketplace in detail, I remember that Australian boaters are on the water all year round, increasingly so as you travel north through this fabulous country of ours.

That said, somewhere along the way, the October long weekend became known as the official start of the boating season. Perhaps we are simply acknowledging that boating activity increases substantially around this time.

Whatever the case, it’s a good opportunity to remind your clients to have their vessels serviced, check their gear and ensure both boat and skipper are ready for the water. And, as we share that advice, we should put it into practice with our own boats.

Hope to see you next weekend.

We do hope you enjoy this week’s Marine Business News.
