What they say is true, time really does fly when you’re having fun. I want to start my fourth week off by sharing how I ended my third week. Leaders from all across the hospital joined me for an inspiring retreat, focusing on what you all achieved last year and our plans for this year. It was a time full of valuable discussions about our future direction. It was amazing to hear hospital leaders recognize and show appreciation for their colleagues across the hospital. The culture here at Sugar Land continues to impress me and I am grateful to be a part of it.

As part of our commitment to transparency and engagement, I encourage you to reach out to your team leaders, managers or directors and ask them their key takeaways from the retreat. Ask them about the strategies discussed, the goals for the upcoming year and how your unit can specifically contribute to these objectives.

To make this initiative more exciting, we are introducing a special opportunity. Both physical safety and psychological safety are crucial in health care. I encourage all of you to take time to see the display of posters in the main atrium.

The application for the 2024 class of HMSL Community Ambassadors is open through March 15. This program connects our community with information about HMSL Oncology Services, as well as specialized access to those services. HMSL has welcomed two classes of ambassadors already, who share why they signed up:

“I became an ambassador so I can be an additional resource to my community. I believe when people are faced with scary results or have questions they don't know where to go. I would like to be a resource and guide them in being able to get more information.”
