Season's Greetings from AEC Dear colleagues and friends, To meet so many of you again at this year's AEC Congress was a great pleasure. Warm thanks to the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp for its generosity and dedication as host. The final outcomes of the AEC-SMS project, which were presented at the Congress, can be traced in this Newsletter. I would like to encourage you all to take ownership of these outcomes, to use them in your own context and to share them with your colleagues, within and outside your institution. In the coming year we will maintain our focus on the societal responsibilities and relevance of higher music education. At next year´s Congress in Lyon, we will also look into artistic processes and results, and the EPARM conference in London in April will concentrate on the Artistry of Artistic Research. This strange year marked by new waves of Covid is coming to an end. We have high hopes for a new and brighter year ahead of us. Eirik Birkeland In the uncertain times in which we live, one of the reliable constants that higher music education institutions situated in the European Union (EU) can count on, is the accessibility of EU funding programs. Join the AEC Pop and Jazz Platform 2022 and send proposals for the Pre-Conference sessions and the Open Floor presentations. The 4-year project led by AEC came to an end: find and share the resources developed for helping you and your institution strengthen music in society. Send your proposal for the European Platform for Artistic Research in Music (EPARM) 2022. Deadline: 5 January 2022. By creating a (thematic) network of higher education institutions and cooperating through shared education, institutions can offer a variety of experiences and specific, supplemental programmes in other academies of the network. The MusiQuE Board composition has been recently renewed. A new member has been appointed by AEC for a mandate period of three years, while Gordon Munro has been replaced as Chair of the Board by Jacques Moreau. The Maastricht Centre for the Innovation of Classical Music (MCICM) will organise an online symposium titled ‘Borderlands: Classical Music and Society’ on 20-23 April 2022. The European Learning & Teaching Forum will take place at the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain, on 17-18 February 2022.
