Dear colleagues, Uncertain times shape Europe as these lines are written: geopolitical tensions challenge us politically and economically, and more than ever, there is a need for the cultural and educational sectors to stand together and lead the way toward a more peaceful and promising future. You may have seen that AEC, in collaboration with EPASA, has issued a statement in support of Serbian students and academic communities, reaffirming our commitment to democratic principles, including the right to protest, organisational autonomy, and freedom of expression. A bright spot in the winter darkness was Commissioner Micallef’s first statements about the upcoming Culture Compass at a major event at Bozar in early February. "Culture must play a more strategic role in Europe's development, embedding it in our overarching policy goals, ensuring it becomes more accessible for all." You can read more about this in the advocacy article below. In the midst of an exciting PJP event, the AEC office is busy preparing for EPARM at the beginning of April. I look forward to meeting many of you and exchanging ideas and thoughts for the inspiration and benefit of our entire AEC community. Finn Schumacker - AEC Executive Director The European Commission is engaging stakeholders in shaping the Culture Compass. Artistic Research initially took root in European HMEIs at the third-cycle level. For many years, young emerging artists encountered AR in an unsystematic and often incidental way. However, this is now changing. Join a webinar on 24 March to explore these developments in greater depth.
