Saturday Edition
Welcome to another Saturday edition of our newsletter! We hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. We have a lot of great content lined up for you today, so make yourself comfortable and grab a cuppa (and a bikkie or two!) and let’s get started.
To start things off, let’s dig into the answer to yesterday’s riddle! Let’s remind ourselves of it, shall we?
With pointed fangs and in plain sight, my bloodless victims are bound by my bite. What am I?
And the answer to this one is… a stapler! Because it has pointed fangs (the staples), it can be in plain sight, and it can bind things together with its bite (the stapling action). Oh, this was without a doubt a tricky one, but it turns out that a fair few of you knew this one! So, if you got it correct, you’ll find a shoutout waiting for you at the bottom of this newsletter!
Now onto our next segment, ‘What Would the Grandkids Say?' Today, we're taking a look at the phrase ‘I can’t even.' This phrase is used to express disbelief, shock, or amazement. It’s used by the kids today when something is so good or so bad, that they just can’t find the words. For example, if your grandkid says they got 95% on their test, you might say, 'I can't even deal with how smart you are!' or if they tell you a hilarious story, you might say, 'I can't even deal with how funny you are!' Give this phrase a try and let us know how it lands with the grandkids!
Oh, and one last thing before we dive into the news, we accidentally said we would announce the winner of the joke competition yesterday, today, which would be far earlier than what we promised on the forum! So we are going to stick to what we have said on the forum, and will announce the winner at the end of May! So get posting those jokes of yours for your chance to win a $100 voucher to Coles, Woolies,
Aldi or IGA!

Who remembers their mums using the Fowlers Vacola fruit bottling outfit for jams and preserves back in the day? This was in almost every home in Australia because, according to Mrs B Thrifty, "no home is complete without a Fowlers Vacuole Fruit Bottling Outfit." Oh, our mums’ preserved nectarines, peaches, and apricots were the best!

Bird photography
Today’s stunning picture is thanks to member @Julessleeman. It’s one of the few photos he posted in our photography forum with the caption, “Bird photography has kept me fit and sane (relatively!) in times when I felt very alone. I have learned a lot, and it is a real adventure! These shots were taken in Country Central Victoria.”
Well, you know what, @Julessleeman? We think your photos are stunning, and we really appreciate you sharing your story with us. One way to deal with loneliness is indeed through creativity. But, as we always remind our members, we're always available for a chat if you ever need one!
