NEWS UPDATE23 May 2025 Publishers noteThere’s no question the industry descended on the Gold Coast en masse this week — and rightly so. Three significant events have shaped the week: ASMEX, the 2025 Australian Marine Industry Awards, and, at the time of writing, the opening day of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show had just concluded. As you'll read in my conference report, I found it to be a confident reflection of industry strength and innovation. The AIMEX team delivered a superb event — first with the conference, then followed by an equally impressive awards evening. I often feel I can’t overstate the quality and value of these events enough. While my mission in attending was to gather news for our readers — which I certainly did — the experience offered so much more. I reconnected with industry colleagues and friends, discovered new opportunities, was inspired by insightful speakers, and left feeling recharged and motivated. Conferences like these are not just professional obligations — they are investments in ourselves and our businesses. I can’t recommend them highly enough. The other highlight of the week is the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. The official opening set a strong tone for what promises to be a spectacular event. The ceremony was expertly emceed by Kendall Guilding; Uncle Johan Graham offered a heartfelt Welcome to Country; newly appointed General Manager of Mulpha Events, Claire Back, spoke with poise and purpose — a clear asset to the team. Avril Harris (Executive Director of Events, Experience Gold Coast) and Cameron Caldwell MP (Federal Member) also delivered supportive and encouraging remarks. The event concluded with the traditional ringing of the ship’s bell — a symbolic start to what we all hope will be a fabulous show. Best wishes to all involved! I do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
