The energy at Team LUNGevity has never been higher, and it’s all thanks to the dedication you bring to the pavement every single day. Our season started off with a bang – two races, on the same day, on opposite sides of the globe! But we aren’t just logging miles; we’re hitting milestones that change lives. Thank you for showing up, digging deep, and proving that when we move together, we are unstoppable. With lots of excitement still in store, we hope to see you at one of our start lines – or off the course at one of our volunteer opportunities or entertainment events!

Off to the RacesCongratulations to all! Across three events, 40 athletes raised a total of $74,951 toward lifesaving research and support services: Tokyo Marathon: Crossing continents and crushing goals! Team LUNGevity made its debut in Tokyo with 6 athletes raising more than $24,000. For many, Tokyo was the next stop in their Abbott World Marathon Major journey, with one athlete earning her 7th star!
Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon and Half Marathon: Rolling vineyards provided the perfect backdrop for our 12 athletes, who raised nearly $12,000! They laced up for parents, grandparents, and friends impacted by lung cancer, while their loved ones cheered on from the sidelines.
United Airlines NYC Half: It was another fantastic year in the Big Apple where 21 athletes braved a windy race day and raised almost $39,000. We had a blast celebrating with an expo meet up, team lunch, race day cheer station, and post-race happy hour. Extra shout-out to our 6 first-time half marathoners on an amazing achievement!
Bringing Hope from Hawaii to BostonWhen Shay Nakahira learned that her friend and classmate, Dylan, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer at just 27 years old, she jumped into action. Next month, she’ll be racing in Dylan’s honor at the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America while Dylan returns to finish his final year of medical school. Together, they’ve raised nearly $20,000 – with no sign of stopping! You can join Shay as part of our Bring Your Own Bib (B.Y.O.B.) program by selecting any race – a local 5K, destination race, multi-sport event, or anything in between – and setting your own fundraising goal!
