NEWS UPDATE21 October 2022 Publishers noteIt is a special time for Marine Business News, with tomorrow (22 October) being the first anniversary of our launch. Whilst this masthead originally started back in 1989, the relaunch with new owners, in a new format, occurred last year. The transition from Yaffa Media to my business was smooth and I was moved by the support I had from the Yaffa team during the transition period. It wasn’t hard. Two parties coming together with cordial conversation. A mutual desire for success, and here we are now. Speaking of success, it is hard not to mention Michelle Lee, out there somewhere in the Pacific rowing mostly 14 hours a day. She was very chirpy a few days back and wrote about her situation. I hope you enjoy the read. Sadly, the latest attempt for a merger between the BIA’s has faltered. On Wednesday BIA Victoria announced the proposed merger would not go ahead. Only hours later, this was confirmed by BIA Ltd in their own somewhat similar statement. This is what she had to say… Boating Industry Academy: Industry Partners and Open Day update The BIA has welcomed Stella Marine, Lightwave Yachts, Telwater, Riviera and Gold Coast City Marina as Industry Partners of the Boating Industry Academy. These businesses are part of a growing cohort of members putting their support behind the project delivering a pipeline of talent for the industry. BIA Victoria merger with BIA Ltd called offOn behalf of the BIAV Board, the President Eleni Savva has announced that the proposed merger with BIA Ltd will not go ahead. The due diligence process in relation to the possibility of merging with BIA Ltd continued in earnest during the August to October period. This process has resulted in the BIAV Board coming to the decision not to proceed with the merger process at this stage. BIA confirm ‘Merger plans on hold’BIA Ltd have responded to the earlier announcement from BIA Victoria that merger talks had stalled. The BIA Ltd’s statement read as follows. BIA Victoria and BIA Ltd will not be proceeding with the current proposal to merge.
