These themes brought us closer together in one place, at a moment in time and for this we thank you! Dear Foyer Friends, Last week, 200 people across the country came together on the Gold Coast to experience a jam-packed two days of 60 plus speakers, hosts and panellists designed to bring our collective ambition for young people to fruition. After only eight weeks as CEO of the Foyer Foundation, I was humbled to be part of such a special moment in time for the Youth Foyer movement in Australia. The Foyer Advantage conference was the perfect way to celebrate how far we have come as a network with our incredible Youth Ambassadors leading the way. The energy in the room was infectious. I was blown away by the spirit of generosity and collaboration shared by all. In the words of Emeritus Professor Judy Atkinson, ‘If I sit and listen to people’s stories, I see them at the deepest level of their being’. The courage of Sakshi, Brea, David, Josh, Nexus, Tyrah, Ash, Jess, June and Scott was a huge highlight for so many who joined us. We heard about their dreams to own a house, start families, finish studies, become an obstetrician, a musician, or social entrepreneur. We learnt from their lived experiences of the past and their points of view on the future. We demonstrated what it would mean to shift more of our systems into an Advantaged Thinking approach where the talents, capabilities and aspirations of young people are seen and nurtured. We discovered at least 33 communities working to establish a Youth Foyer right now, with many on a journey of continuous learning and improvement through to accreditation. We are seeking to better understand our emerging and established Foyer communities through a survey that will be released via email next week called - Your Say. We'd appreciate you taking a few minutes to share your thoughts, ideas and feedback. Above all, we all shared a willingness to lift above the day-to-day and reconnect as part of the Foyer movement to mobilise our efforts towards 50 Youth Foyers by 2030 - a bold ambition that is within reach. #50by2030 Looking forward to working in partnership with each and every one of you to realise our ambition. Liz Cameron-Smith: CEO, Foyer Foundation Under one RoofUnder one Roof was revealed as our collective national campaign to grow Youth Foyers to 50 by 2030. With Foyer Invest and the Foyer network we have a great platform to build what we need in our toolkit to mobilise Foyer communities across Australia. This will ensure we are meeting local needs whilst expanding our investment options to grow the impact for young people. A new report by Accenture is in train that will identify the value of the Foyer approach to all levels of Government and we look forward to hosting online co-design sessions to help inform the Under one Roof campaign. If you'd like to take part in our co-design sessions please register your interest at info@foyer.org.au with the subject line - Co-design EOI - and we'll be in touch.
