Zoning Code Open House

    • June 10 (4–7pm) at Village Hall
    • June 11 (12–3pm) at Library

    The Village of Northbrook is nearing the final stages of drafting a new Zoning Code and is seeking community feedback. Two Open House Forums will be held to share updates and gather input. The first will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 4-7pm in the Village Hall lobby. The second will be on Wednesday, June 11, 12-3pm in the Northbrook Public Library lobby.

    MEMORIAL DAY PARADE ON MAY 26 AT 10:30AM

    Memorial Day Parade participants will gather at 10am on Greenbriar Lane between Catherine Street and Cherry Lane near Greenbriar School. The parade begins at 10:30am and proceeds east on Cherry Lane, south on Meadow Road, east on Shermer Road, ending around 11:30am with a ceremony at Village Green Park. Because of the holiday, all LRS service will be delayed one day.

    Northbrook residents can pick up free native tree saplings—like Sugar Maple, Red Oak, and White Pine. Trees are first come, first served, with no registration needed. For questions, email

    Northbrook Climate Action Day | Sustainability Commission
    Saturday, June 7, 10am-2pm
    The Sustainability Commission is excited to celebrate World Environment Day with Northbrook Climate Action Day resource fair behind Village Hall (1225 Cedar Ln)! Explore the Village Hall demonstration garden and connect with experts sharing valuable information on sustainability. Meet community partners for practical tips to make your home, landscape and transportation more sustainable and energy-efficient, adopt sustainable lifestyle practices, and reduce you environmental impact.

    Grapes on the Green
    Saturday, June 14, 4-8pm
    The Village of Northbrook and Northbrook Park District are excited to host our 3rd annual Grapes on the Green at Village Green Park. Join us for wine tastings, live music from The Flat Cats, art and games! Bring your own blanket and a picnic dinner. Light snacks will be provided.

    Northbrook Farmers Market Market Opening Day Bash
    Wednesday, June 18 7am-1pm
    Northbrook Farmers Market Opening Day Bash, Wednesday, June 18, features fun for all in the parking lot of Meadow Plaza, Cherry Lane and Meadow Road. Free attractions include live music, face painting, slices of cold watermelon, games for kids, plenty of cool swag and more. The best weekday farmers market on the North Shore is open 7am to 1pm Wednesdays through October 8, in downtown Northbrook. 

     

    Electronics Recycling 
    First Tuesday & Saturday of the month
    Fleet Maintenance Garage, 1227 Cedar Lane
    Bring your old and unused electronics to be recycled. Residents are responsible for removing items from their vehicles. Do not leave items at the Village’s facility outside of the recycling events. 1st Tuesday of the month, 7am-3pm & 1st Saturday of the month, 9am-noon.

    Shermer Road Railroad Crossing Closure Extended By One Day

    The Village of Northbrook has been informed by Metra that the Shermer Road railroad crossing between Meadow Road and Walters Avenue will remain closed through 10 a.m. on Friday, May 23—one day longer than originally scheduled.

    Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge Readopted

    At the May 13, 2025, Board of Trustees meeting, the Village Board readopted the Village's Welcoming and Inclusive Community Pledge that was originally adopted in May 2023. This once again affirms the Village's commitment to be a community that must speak out and stand against any and all discrimination, xenophobia, and hatred. The Village invites you to take the pledge online with the link below.
