On most occasions it meant that it was all happening when we were asleep, but there was also the odd occasion when it didn’t, and the overlap would mean that many of us scrambled to get some form of TV signal into the cavernous halls of the old Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. The challenge was to get the signal on one of the many 3 x 3 video walls scattered throughout the halls. If you are old enough, you know exactly what I’m referring to. At my age, my memory is starting to fail me, but I vaguely remember a 1500 metre race featuring Kieran Perkins, and if remember correctly, it was in Atlanta. Modern technology has changed everything, so nowadays no one misses anything. It’s all on demand, or replay – so we don’t miss much. At time of writing, Aussies are doing very well sitting in third place with 42 medals in total. A number of those linked to boating related events. • Women’s Kayak Single – Jessica Fox – Gold Congratulations to all medal winners, and equally to those who strived for our country irrespective of coming home without a medal.
