Tuesday Edition
Good morning members, and happy Tuesday! How are you all feeling this morning? I was thinking over the weekend, does anyone have any good book recommendations? I’m after a page turner. I started ‘The Silent Patient’ by Alex Michaelides over the weekend and I could NOT put it down. It’s a psychological thriller (not too scary, I promise) and it has an incredible twist at the end. But as we all do after finishing a good book I now feel lost, so please recommend your favourite books here! Maybe we can make an SDC book club? Anywho, we have some fantastic things for you to get up to today, starting off with the answer to yesterday’s riddle! Let’s jog our memory and look at exactly what it was!
When Deke Hay’s five sons turned out their pockets, they discovered that they had 18 toffees between them. No two boys had the same total of toffees. And no single boy’s tally was as great as any three boy’s combined. How many toffees had each lad tucked away?
Stumped? We sure were! The answer is… 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6! So boy number one had 1 toffee, boy number two had 2 toffees, boy number three had 4 toffees, boy number four had 5 toffees, and boy number five had 6 toffees. If you add up their toffees, you'll get 18 toffees! We absolutely loved this one, especially for a Monday morning. So how did you go? As usual, it seems like you had no trouble at all! If you got the answer correct, look further down for a shoutout just for you!

Who here used to get a dink on a friend's bike as a kid? It was also called a "double” back in the day. Remember when we rode our bikes to and from school, and we rode everywhere with friends, sometimes with the dog running behind? Not a helmet in sight either. Ah, good (but maybe not the safest) times!

Mount Everest may be the tallest mountain on Earth at more than 29,000 feet, but researchers found that Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador is actually the closest point on Earth to the atmosphere. It only stands 20,548 feet above sea level, but because it sits only a single latitudinal degree south of the equator, it gets a bit of a boost from the shape of the earth. So if you measure from the moon, Chimborazo is 1.5 miles closer than Everest.
