NEWS UPDATE14 April 2023 Publishers noteIn a first for Marine Business News, this week we have delivered two email news broadcasts. On Tuesday you received one in place of our traditional Friday morning news service, as we chose to not send one last week on Easter Friday. Even with two news broadcasts this week, we still find ourselves with much more news on our webpage than we can share in our eNews. As such we urge you to visit our website for more industry news from locations both locally and internationally. On a sad note, this week we learnt about the untimely passing of young Jack Beattie. I did not know him personally but given the number of calls I had about him, he obviously was well liked and highly regarded amongst many in our industry. I am told that young Jack started his working life in our industry. Our industries future is dependent on today’s youth and it is sad when we lose one. Our condolences to the Beattie family. Our thoughts are with you. I had the opportunity to have a long chat with Michelle on Tuesday. She was in good spirits and happy to be home. She said that she was consuming lots of food and sleeping extraordinary hours. She put it down to having the ability to rest her mind for the first time without worrying about drifting, the weather conditions or big vessels simply not seeing her at night. There is more to come about Michelle, and I look forward to sharing that story soon. We invite you to look at the many more stories on our website not seen in this newsletter, as well as links to resources, photo libraries, reviews, our international events calendar, our jobs board, and now an eNews log of our past Friday newsletters. Our newsroom is open, and if your business has news to share, please let us know.
