NEWS UPDATE

14 March 2025

Publishers note

This week has been a busy one for me, with some of my team away, I have spent more time “on the tools”.  Have to say I really enjoyed it and have made the decision to rearrange other commitments to do more of it.

The news this week has been as diverse as it has been interesting.  We kick off this eNews with a one-on-one with John Haber.  Pat Panetta, who many of you will recognise having heard him on 2GB, 3AW, 4BC, Triple M or ACE Radio, sat with John to talk to him about all things boating & business.  Watch his interview with John here in Marine Business News.

I have no doubt that the great man Barry Thompson is looking down on us now, as we take the opportunity to celebrate the success of PowerBoat Mag that is celebrating its 200th edition. Equally, congratulations to Doug Dukeson who, with his family, has been able to continue and grow this wonderful magazine.

There has been lots of event news, with the Australian Superyacht Soirée having successfully concluded last weekend, advice that entries for 80th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race are opening in the coming weeks, dates for the South Pacific Superyacht Rendezvous in Fiji announced, and best wishes to the BIAV team for their inaugural Geelong Boat Show, this weekend, the 15th and 16th March.

I do hope you enjoy this week’s news.

Celebrate the 200th issue of PowerBoat Magazine

My ex-GM always used to say that we must ensure boating remains the hero while we quietly work in the background. We don’t need to be the heroes. He was right, and that philosophy holds true in many successful boating businesses.
