Scone CBD Revitalisation

Stage 2 Announcement

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping you informed about the Scone CBD Revitalisation Project, we would like to share an update on the works happening in and around St Aubins Square and Kelly Street.

We’re pleased to share an important update on the Scone CBD revitalisation project. Upper Hunter Shire Council has awarded the tender for the next phase of the revitalisation to Daracon Group, the same construction partners who have been successfully completing stage 1. This next stage is set to bring further enhancements to our town centre, focusing on accessibility, safety, and overall community experience.

What to Expect in Stage 2:

Project Start Date: Works will commence on 2 September 2024.

Location: St Aubins Street to Susan Street (Block 3)

Investment: The total investment for this stage is $2.32 million (excluding GST), ensuring we maximise the benefits of available grant funding despite rising construction costs.

Key Improvements:

  • Removal of the existing median and creation of a new road layout.
  • Installation of a raised pedestrian crossing for improved safety.
  • Consistent parking configurations along Kelly Street.
  • Upgrades to stormwater drainage and road infrastructure to ensure a cohesive integration with Stage 1.

Traffic Impacts:

Block 3 Closure: Please note that Block 3 of Kelly Street will be closed to traffic from 9 September 2024. We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance our town centre.

Project Timeline: The works are expected to be completed by late December 2024.

We’re committed to keeping you informed throughout this process and ensuring that Scone’s revitalisation meets the needs of our businesses and community. We will provide further updates as the project progresses.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to create a vibrant, accessible, and welcoming town centre for Scone.
