Well, well, well, if it isn’t my favourite group of people. Good morning and happy Saturday, members! It’s fantastic to be here with you all as we kick off another glorious weekend. How’s everyone doing this morning? Have you got any big plans for the day? I (Vella) am taking it easy and indulging in some much-needed relaxation and self-care. Sadly, I am still nursing a cold and sore throat, but thankfully, my mum’s homemade honey lemon drink is working wonders. Ah, mums always know what we need, eh? Whether it’s a comforting hug or a cup of tea on a sick day. So shout-out to all the amazing mums out there who give their all for their families. They truly are superheroes in disguise, and we are so lucky to have them in our lives.

Yesterday, I asked you all a question that got some incredible responses. I asked, ‘If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?’ I was blown away by the heartwarming stories you shared. Many of you said you would love to have a meal with your mums or dads who have passed away. It made me emotional and reminded me of how important it is to cherish our time with our loved ones. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing your stories and always participating in our get-to-know-each-other sessions. Who remembers this classic TV show back in the day? Aussies watched it religiously on their black and white TVs until the early ‘70s. Jim Nabors’ portrayal of the good-natured and naive Gomer Pyle never failed to bring a smile to your face. Who could forget his signature catchphrase, ‘Shazam!’ Or ‘Golly’? But Nabors wasn’t just a one-hit-wonder. He was also an incredibly talented singer, and his version of ‘The Impossible Dream’ hit the top 20 in Australia in 1968. He went on to record several albums and singles, showcasing his romantic ballads. Sadly, Jim passed away in 2017 at age 87, but his legacy as Gomer Pyle lives on.
