Week of March 18, 2024

Michael Garcia
Chief Executive Officer
Houston Methodist Sugar Land

As many of us return from spring break, I want you to know that there are a lot of things to celebrate this week. First, it is an important week for our HMSL nurses. Certified Nurses Day is Tuesday, March 19 and I want to extend my gratitude to all of the certified nurses here, who earn and maintain the highest credentials in their specialty. From caring for our patients, to supporting our physicians, and everything in between - it was obvious from my first day here that our nurses are truly special. Make sure to celebrate them this week!

Last week was Patient Safety Awareness Week and I have some great news to share. Our hospital has been awarded the Patient Safety Excellence Award by Healthgrades for the third year in a row, along with the Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Healthgrades awards tell you which hospitals deliver superior quality care. Additionally, we received several specialty clinical quality awards: America's 100 Best Hospitals for Prostate Surgery Award, Gastrointestinal Care Excellence Award, Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award, Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award and the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award. These awards are a true testament for all you do for our patients. Thank you to our entire team. You can find more information about the awards here.

I hope each of you makes it a great week,

Michael Garcia
Chief Executive Officer
