Manjimup Arts Hub update

Building progress

The new hub is a large commercial space with good visibility in the main street of Manjimup (close to the corner of Ipsen and Giblett Street). It is 39 metres deep, with wide street frontage and great accessibility.

The walls are currently being repaired and painted. There will be three separate spaces:

- a front display space for site holders (10 m deep)

- a middle display space primarily for consignment works (16 m deep)

- a rear space for future workshop and studio potential.

Hub patrons

Support for this social enterprise has come from two key patrons: Louis Rumenos and Paul Rumenos. Their generosity has allowed the concept to get off the ground, and get the hub established.

Australian Rustic Farm Art Award

Call for entries

The Gidgegannup Agricultural Society presents the inaugural Australian Rustic Farm Art Awards (ARFAA), an outdoor exhibition of sculptures on display at the Gidgegannup Agricultural Show 2022.

This heart-warming community project arose through the Worooloo bushfire disaster recovery (joint City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring).

Led by the local Agricultural Society in Gidgegannup, the art awards will encourage creative excellence within the popular genre of Farm Art (Junk Art/Assemblage) - artworks made from recycled scrap metal, broken-up machinery, timber and other farm-related materials (examples attached below).

The Rustic Farm Art Awards are open state wide as this is a really popular art form in the regions!

Contact Ellen Norrish at City of Swan for further info. Or follow the facebook page.

Creative Leadership

Celebrating Local Leaders

Did you see our write up about young Manjimup film-maker in last month's Arts Upbeat?

We'll be sharing updates on the progress of her film 'Paradise Valley' in coming months.

If you know an artist or arts org (in any artform) who you'd like to celebrate...please let us know.

For us to increase public value of art and artists it's important that we blow the trumpet for our sector.

How can we help you?

Please tell us what you'd like included in future editions of 'Uplift' to support your creative/community aspirations.
