It presents an opportunity to raise awareness of sleep health and this year the theme is "Sleep Equity for Global Health". OH BRC Better Sleep Theme, led by Prof Colin Espie and Prof David Ray is an interdisciplinary research team created in Oxford with collaborators in Surrey and Manchester with the objective of leveraging the latest sleep and circadian science for health advancements. This World Sleep Day we shine a spotlight on the Better Sleep Theme and the fascinating work they do helping people to sleep better. The OH BRC Better Sleep Theme publish a quarterly newsletter. Bill Wells, Head of Research & Development at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust retires. Head of Research and Development (R&D) Bill Wells has retired after more than ten successful years with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT). Together with colleagues, Bill has played an intrinsic role in the development of R&D infrastructure and across the OHFT R&D landscape during the last decade. Full story on the OH BRC Website. New OH BRC Director Designate We are delighted to announce that Professor Rachel Upthegrove has been appointed as the new director designate and Senior Clinical Researcher of the Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre (OH BRC) based at the University of Oxford’s Department of Psychiatry. She will officially start in August 2024, succeeding Professor John Geddes, who has led the BRC since 2017 and will step down by the end 2024. Full story on the OH BRC Website. Women who enable research at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OHFT)In recognition of International Women’s Day, we highlight three staff members who enable research efforts across OHFT: Wendy Hurst, from the Mental Health Research and Delivery Team (MH RDT); Professor Cathy Henshall, NMAHP research lead and Amanda Colston, at the OH CRF. OH BRC Depression Therapeutics Pump priming award applications deadline Pump Priming Funding, up to £5k can be applied for by 15 March! PETRUSHKA trial is now open to recruitment The PETRUSHKA Trial is funded by the NIHR and aims to assess a web-based decision support tool (PETRUSHKA ) which combines the best evidence with patient and clinician’s preferences, to personalise antidepressant treatment in routine practice. Participants will be randomised on a 1:1 basis to the PETRUSHKA tool or to usual care. The trial lasts for 24 weeks for each participant and they will be under the care of Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust during this time.
