Monday Edition
G'day! Welcome to Monday morning and the start of another week. How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good, I have to say. I (April) made some delicious banana bread and spent a few hours in nature. It also rained so that was a plus. Whatever you got up to, I hope you enjoyed it and found some time to relax.
I was thinking (dangerous, I know), let’s try to make a conscious effort this week to laugh, to take it easy and to find time to do the things that make us happy. After all, ‘The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.’ So this week, I challenge each and every one of you to have a good laugh at least once every day. Hopefully our Grand(dad) jokes can help you hit this goal.
Now, it wouldn’t be a Monday at the Seniors Discount Club without a riddle, that’s for sure! Here we go:
What always runs but never walks, often murmurs, never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a mouth but never eats?
This one is for sure going to test your brain. If you think you know the answer, post it here on our forum. If you get the answer correct, you’ll get a shout-out in tomorrow’s newsletter. Not a bad way to start the week, eh?
I’d also love to pick your brains for any tips and tricks (even recipes) for surgery recovery! I’m having my tonsils removed TODAY (eep) and I’ve been told it’s a fairly unpleasant recovery. Any tips? Send us an email if so!

This Monday we’re looking back on an iconic memory shared by many Australians. ‘Who can remember swinging on the Hills Hoist and making it a merry go round, wet clothes and all! Boy, mum would get mad though.’ Did your family have a Hills Hoist growing up? There’s still a fair few around but I’m not sure kids these days are making the same memories!
