Happy Hot July from Adamah NY

Happy hot summer, New Yorkers!

Summer in the city is in full swing—hot and steamy, filled with basketball, soccer, music, white-uniformed sailors (and tall ships!), and plenty of time outdoors in our parks. While New York may be the "concrete jungle where dreams are made of," it is also a city of parks, street trees, wetlands, rivers, and ecosystems that quietly support millions of lives every day.

Our urban forest plays a critical role in both climate mitigation and adaptation: providing shade, reducing extreme heat, filtering pollution, and improving quality of life for all New Yorkers. That's why Adamah is proud to be part of the Forest for All Coalition, working to increase the city's tree canopy from 24% to 30% by 2035 in an equitable way. Last month, we joined environmental partners from across the city to celebrate a major milestone: New York City's adoption of its Urban Forest Plan.

We've also been busy on the ground. Alongside Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan and Big Reuse, we hosted another Street Tree Care event, helping steward neighborhood trees and build community connections. We were also excited to help create a new community rooftop garden at the 14th Street Y (check out the cute Instagram post!).

As we begin gearing up for the High Holidays, we're also planning an exciting lineup of programs and events. Check out our growing calendar, invite Adamah to bring an environmental program to your community, or help spread the word about our upcoming Manhattan B'Mitzvah Cohort (our recent Brooklyn cohort was spectacular!). Whether it's an outdoor adventure, a volunteer opportunity, a Sukkot program, or something entirely new, we'd love to partner with you.
