Sunday Edition
Gooood Morning lovely Members and Happy Sunday! I hope you’re all staying nice and warm with a good cuppa and some long socks, unless of course you’re located in the Northern Territory then I want you to know that I am terribly jealous and you should absolutely rub your stellar weather in our faces on our forum. Also! I just wanted to give a quick shoutout to our Queensland members who are having a shocking week with this rain bomb and even more flooding. Please know you are in our thoughts and if there is anything we can do, please just flick us an email.
Now, we all know my favourite time of the week is sharing our weekly quote with you all! I only came across this quote for the first time ever this week, and I am in love with it. I would love to know your take on it? But first, let me reveal it…
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."
This lovely quote was of course said by the very famous Winston Churchill, and can you see why I love it so much? I think when we reflect on our past, some of our biggest failures lead to our greatest successes. Yet sometimes STILL when I fail, it feels fatal? I’m not sure how many of you listen to podcasts, but I was listening to a podcast called “E101: The Happiness Expert That Made 51 Million People Happier: Mo Gawdat,” it’s an episode in the podcast series called “The Diary of a CEO”. It’s about a 2 hour podcast (so it’s a long one folks!) but Mo is incredible to listen to. He was (and still is) a very successful man, who lost his son at about 21, and he talks about how he recovered from that, and how he found happiness again. It really touched me, and if you are into podcasts then I recommend listening to it. You can find it on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
Okay enough from me. What’s been happening across Australia and around the world this week?
-
This week, Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, and IGA gave us some fantastic deals, including Chicken Sandwich Schnitzels, Dolmio Pasta Sauce, and some laundry essentials. These deals are still available, so be sure to check them out!
-
One Aldi customer with a tight budget showed us how she cooks up to six meals for under $32.
-
This Aussie mum revealed the very unlikely Chemist Warehouse buy that left her toilet seat sparkling.
-
We also learnt of the ‘gross’ act that all dog owners need to stop doing.
-
A doctor also revealed a new ‘miracle product’ for taking care of ageing skin without the need for botox or toxins.
-
We also found out what’s causing those little holes in your t-shirts (and no, it’s not moths).
-
Members @Ricci and Jean Moore shared some hilarious jokes that had us all in stitches! Click each member’s link for a good laugh.
-
This thrifty shopper was left disgusted after discovering that her second-hand furniture purchase was previously used for X-rated
purposes.
-
A Woolworths shopper sparked outrage after sharing a shocking photo of a carton of eggs costing a whopping $14.
-
An outraged Coles shopper called on the supermarket giant to make its checkouts ‘suitable for all ages’ after spotting an X-rated item - but not everyone agrees.
-
And finally, for the first time ever, Arnott’s will release a surprise new item, and they’re giving it away for free!
And that folks, is a wrap of the week that was! But don’t go anywhere just yet because (as always) we have a great line up for you below, including a pretty tough trivia question, and a ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment that will bring back the fondest memories (unless of course you ever broke a bone on one, like my sister did, then I’m sorry about bringing that memory back!)
Also, don’t forget to try today’s OzWord, our ‘Last Two Letters’ game, and our Sudoku puzzles for some fun brain training. If you’re looking for something new, we’re also trying a “Historical Figures” word game.
Oh, and be sure to post your best joke in our joke competition forum for your chance to win a $100 voucher to Coles, Woolies, Aldi or IGA!
And as always, members, stay safe and happy reading!
