NEWS UPDATE06 March 2026 Publishers noteThere is certainly no shortage of boat show news at the moment. The Auckland boat show opened yesterday with much fanfare for the 25th time, an event that seems to be growing in size and stature each year. Closer to home, reports are that the Gippsland Lakes Boat Show has been a success. It is an event carefully crafted to suit its market and location, and judging by the feedback, a job well done by the organisers. Last week I also made reference to the inaugural Sydney Charter Show, and in this issue we bring you a more comprehensive report on what appears to be a very promising initiative with a strong future. If you enjoy REALLY BIG boats, then Sydney Harbour will be the place to be on 21 and 22 March. The harbour will transform into a spectacular stage to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the Royal Australian Navy with an International Fleet Review. Around 30 ships from 20 nations are expected to participate. Activity will begin early on the Saturday, with the first group of vessels entering the harbour at 6.00 am and further groups arriving at 90-minute intervals throughout the morning. This will be following by festivities and additional arrivals mid-afternoon, Boaters should be mindful of speed restrictions and exclusion zones that will be in place. For those who simply want to experience the spectacle without taking their own boat out, there is always the option of leaving the boat at home and booking one of the many Captain Cook Cruises harbour cruises during the day, for what they describe as “A Once-in-a-Generation Maritime Spectacle”. We do hope you enjoy this week’s news. Marine Business News is an Australian-owned marine industry news service publishing local and international news.
