Welcome to your moment to ROAR!
Issue # 12

Dear Friend,

Welcome to the December ROAR newsletter!

It seems that so many people I know are turning 50 this year! 10,000 Americans a day are reaching that milestone, joining the 117 million who are already 50 or older (that's 35% of the population and growing!) In the New Longevity, a healthy 50 year old can live another 40 or more years! Imagine all the possibilities!

If you are a new 50 year old, please share what you are thinking about as you hit this milestone. Is it a new career turn, lifestyle or relationship? What wisdom have you gained that you have found valuable for your life moving forward? In the January newsletter, we'll report on what you are thinking about as you hit this midlife moment!

(Don't worry 60 year olds, we'll get to you and others too!)

Whether 40, 50, 60 or 70, I've always believed that milestone birthdays should be celebrated in a big way. At 40, I went to Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with a group of friends. At 50, I traveled to Antarctica to explore my 7th continent (and 100th country). At 60, I went back to Antarctica and ran the marathon there. When I get to 70, I want to push myself further and hike to the Everest Base Camp!

While you may not have the same adventure streak as me, how do you want to plan your milestone birthdays? Do something epic with family and friends in tow. Come to think of it, don't just celebrate the big birthdays, make them all special.

In last month's newsletter, I announced the launch of ROAR forward, a new joint venture with Hearst that will develop a membership and business intelligence platform dedicated to the Re-Imagineer, the innovators who are reinventing the 50+ experience. They are the architects of the changing script for the New Longevity and drivers of the longevity economy!

This month, we are announcing our first initiative that is available to you. It is a seven lesson course entitled "The ROAR Manifesto for Midlife Awakening". The goal is to put a spotlight on the wisdom, experience and perspective that you have gained at this point in your life. Use those super powers to awaken to what is possible for your favorite future. It was my pleasure to partner with the Everyday Health Group, a website of 74 million health consumers, for this course.

Throughout 2023, we will have more courses, seminars and workshops for you to participate in, as well as some other surprises!

This past month, I was honored to speak to 50 doctors and health professionals at Weill Cornell Medicine on the ROAR perspective of the New Longevity. Dr. Mark Lachs, my host at the event, is offering some of his own thoughts in this month's newsletter.

With Dr. Sara Czaja, Dr. Ron Adelman and Dr. Mark Lachs at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.

This month, you will also get some insights from my former colleague Keesha Jean-Baptiste, who is a Re-Imagineer herself. She and her family have relocated to Geneva, Switzerland from New York.

For those of you who are new to the ROAR community newsletter (we just hit 10,000 subscribers), we welcome you! Several of our past monthly newsletters are posted below for you to gain even more ROAR tips and insights, as well as meet other Re-Imagineers like you.

Here we are on the cusp of a New Year, when you can begin your 2023 life journal with all of your goals and dreams that set you on the course for your own ROAR forward plan. Join the Re-Imagineers and make this your best year ever.

Have a wonderful Holiday season!

Michael
