Join CODA’s Partnership ProgramCODA’s Partnership Program enables companies of all sizes in the decommissioning value chain to make modest financial contributions and become partners with CODA. These monetary contributions will give our partners access to materials such as full versions of our recently completed studies and associated materials and more, while helping us to undertake more collaborative work. New strategic partnership with Go Radical P&ACODA is delighted to announce its partnership with the Go Radical P&A programme (GRaPA). This project is sponsored by Equinor and TotalEnergies and operates within the Norwegian business cluster Energy Transition Norway (ETN). Its primary objective is to drive radical change in the technology innovation, process efficiency and economics of well abandonment culminating in a 50% reduction in overall cost. With well P&A accounting for a significant proportion of estimated total decommissioning liabilities worldwide, GRaPA has the potential to deliver leading-edge solutions with global impact. Go Radical P&A is a great example of CODA’s ability to build strong connections into global initiatives that have immediate relevance to key decommissioning challenges here in Australia. ETN has secured the services of global well P&A experts Tim Croucher, Kjell Erik Drevdal and David Gardner to drive innovative thinking and connection to the large-scale communities of practice and novel technology providers that GRaPA will need to deliver its far-reaching goals. We’re looking forward to working with the GRaPA team as they mature and accelerate their innovation programme and providing them with visibility of relevant challenges and opportunities as the Australian decommissioning journey gets up to full speed. New report releasedWe're pleased to announce the release of our latest report Decommissioning Innovation and Technology Roadmap, the full version of which has now been shared with all our partners. This report includes the development of an innovation and technology roadmap that identifies key opportunities within the decommissioning work breakdown structure that would benefit from applying innovative approaches and technologies. The roadmap focusses on Australia’s offshore Oil and Gas assets and draws upon technology currently used or emerging in other centres of decommissioning activity such as the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. The report also identifies roadblocks and opportunities to innovate specifically for the Australian market. The Roadmap serves as an alignment tool for Operators and service providers and plays an important role in the transformation of the industry approach to decommissioning. The executive summary is publicly available on our website. NDRI (National Decommissioning Research Initiative) updateNDRI continues to do important research to better understand the impacts of decommissioning oil and gas structures on the Australian marine environment. 15 March, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Join us at the CODA stand (L26) for the opportunity to hear firsthand what the researchers can conclude from the studies they led. Delivered in Q4 2022, the project’s aim was to define the priority research questions and knowledge gaps which will act as differentiators in the decision making and approval for decommissioning Australian offshore oil and gas infrastructure over the next 10-20 years. The output from this consultation process has been used and will continue to be used to advise the next phase of the NDRI research from 2022 and beyond. The NDRI is excited to announce another paper it has facilitated - Threshold values for the protection of marine ecosystems from NORM in subsea oil and gas infrastructure - has now been published. Be sure to visit our frequently updated research library to view this and other important environmental and marine research related to decommissioning.
