Silverware for the ACT at AJBVTRound 1 of the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball kicked off in Canberra on 26th February. The two day competition saw the country's best U19 & U21 athletes battling it out in tough conditions. Twelve ACT pairings competed in the event and gained some valuable game experience. Our best performing pair of the event was Jay Tregeagle & Charlie Beard. Battling through injury, the pair took home the silver medal, narrowly going down in the gold medal match. This is the ACT's best result at this event in the last 20 years. Congratulations to everyone that competed. I was introduced to Volleyball by my PE Teacher at Campbell High School when I was in Year 8 What club do you play for? Belconnen Volleyball Club Do you prefer indoor or beach? Beach! I like the strategy of the game and it keeps me fit! Who is your greatest inspiration? My mum. She has always been so supportive of my volleyball journey and has dedicated so much of her own time to support me. What is your favourite volleyball memory? Volleyball has given me the opportunity to make lots of friends, and my closest friends today are those I met through the ACT State Team program. I have had lots of fond memories, both on and off the court. One that sticks with me is playing volleyball off the balcony with a golden volleyball in Coolangatta. What is one piece of advice you would give someone starting their volleyball journey? Just keeping going. It will feel hard at first, but if you enjoying it, just keep showing up.
