It's getting cold outside!
But here at Kids Hope, we're just getting warmed up! Did you know that we have started 13 new programs in schools since the beginning of 2024? That is such good news!
That's about 100 children who will have their lives positively impacted. And not just the children, but their families, schools, and communities as well. We are so excited about the potential impact of our new Mentors.
How about this for impact?
You make me feel happy
Kathy has mentored Jason for over 4 years now. Jason not only has difficult family circumstances but he was frequently 'left out' by the other kids at school for being too emotional.
You see, Jason's home life is unpredictable... unsettling, because each week he is moved from house to house. For him, Kathy's constant reliability - one hour every week, has been a game changer. Over the course of time, despite his unchanging circumstances at home, Kathy has seen Jason grow so much.
In fact, during a recent mentoring session in the school staff room, Jason said to Kathy, "I don't know if I have ever told you this, but do you know how happy you make me feel?"
A staff member, present in the room, looked earnestly at Kathy and made a heart-shape with her hands. Those simple words had obviously impacted her. BUT, they had also pierced Kathy's heart! Those moments are the gems that our Mentors live for.
Jason continued to ask, "Is it possible for you to come on a Monday? I would love to start my week on a happy note."
What a touching example of the impact a mentor can make in a child's life. Thank you Kathy for being there for Jason.

A big shoutout for our volunteers
It's stories like that where we are reminded of the amazing impact of our volunteers. So, this Volunteer Week let's make a big fuss about saying thank you to them!
The impact you read about each month is not possible without the dedication, care and generosity of volunteers from all over Australia.
They don't ask for anything in return, but each week they turn up and power up. They invest their time and energy to ensure their mentor child knows they have someone on their side.
Thank you Mentors! Thank you Coordinators! We cannot do it without you.
