NEWS UPDATE14 November 2025 Publishers noteAIMEX this week held its AGM, which brought with it several board changes as two long-serving directors passed on the baton. The Board remains strong, and the breadth of representation across its various sectors will continue to ensure that all voices are heard. President Jeremy Spear continues in his role, and together with a capable Board and a talented Secretariat under the stewardship of CEO David Good, AIMEX and its associated groups are well positioned to deliver a positive and productive future for their members. It is also interesting to note that two states have announced trial speed restrictions in specific locations. In NSW, the focus is on three locations identified as “high-use swimming and paddling areas” within Port Stephens. In Queensland, Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) has implemented 6-knot speed limits for two sections of Baffle Creek from 3 October 2025. Whilst the NSW changes are described as a trial running from 24 December 2025 to 26 January 2026, the Queensland approach certainly appears to be a permanent decision.
