Dear colleagues, Full of interesting presentations, musical sessions, and in-depth discussions on Artistic Research, EPARM 2025 took place at the beginning of April, this time under the perfect hosting of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn. From AEC, we extend our thanks to the hosts and participants for your active contributions to yet another successful event. Read more about EPARM in this newsletter. Empowering Artists as Makers in Society, the overarching theme of the now formally concluded ARTEMIS project, remains highly relevant and continues to shape AEC’s work in these months. This happens both through the dissemination of reports and recommendations from the project, and as a guiding principle in our advocacy work, where we are investing considerable effort in promoting culture and artistic education within the many important processes at the EU level that are currently laying the foundation for policies and budgets for the coming years. Last week, new AEC members were welcomed at the traditional online introduction meeting, and with the latest admissions, the membership number has now reached a record high of 317. At AEC, we are, of course, delighted by this support, which inspires us in our daily work and efforts to continue delivering value and quality to our members. Best wishes, Finn Schumacker, AEC Executive Director 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for European politics, with major shifts expected in EU priorities. AEC is actively engaged in several advocacy campaigns to ensure that culture, the arts, and artistic education remain a strong focus in future European policies. From 3–5 April, EPARM 2025 brought together 180 participants in Tallinn, at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, for inspiring performances, research presentations, and vibrant discussions on the future of artistic research in music. Recent activities and events give reason to hope that this is about to change.
