It’s been another big sporting week in the state, with some of the world’s top footballers touching down in Western Australia ahead of the Perth International Football Cup. This is the latest in a series of major football events exclusively hosted in Perth, and the first of its kind in Australia. The tournament will feature four matches between United Kingdom Women's Super League (WSL) teams Manchester City, West Ham United, and Leicester City, as well as France's Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain, over the next five days. The Perth
International Football Cup is part of a growing collection of world-class women's football events secured for WA, which aligns with Tourism WA’s strategy to promote the state as a world-class event destination. In addition, the prestigious 2025 United Cup international tennis tournament is set to return to Perth again this December, with dates announced this week. Some of the sport’s top-ranked athletes will travel to WA to compete in the event at RAC Arena, where they will battle for AUD$15 million in prize money. The United Cup has proven to be a hit in Perth in past years, attracting out-of-state visitors and injecting millions of dollars into the WA
economy across 2023 and 2024. In other news this week, Tourism WA is delighted to be hosting an industry update event at Optus Stadium in September, where cross-government representatives will share insights on key projects such as the Outdoor Adventure Tourism package and Perth Airport upgrades. Registrations are now open through this link. With spring just around the corner, we’re excited to deliver a packed calendar of tourism events and
opportunities that will continue to showcase the best of WA. Warm regards,
