Sunday Edition
Good morning beautiful members! Happy Sunday! I hope you all had as good of a week as possible. It’s been a really big week, hasn’t it? With everything from the Federal Budget, to the floods, to interest rates, I just really need a morning in bed, reading, with a coffee in hand I think! And I’m sure many of you feel the same.
Now, it wouldn’t be a Sunday without our quote of the week, now would it? I tried finding a quote that would make you smile a little today and I think I have done just that! This quote is from the very famous screenwriter Eric Roth, and may sound familiar if you’ve seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button…
‘Life can only be understood looking backward. It must be lived forward.’
Have a good think about this one and reflect on all the things that happened in your life that you couldn’t make sense of at the time. Do any memories come to mind? I know a few do for me. It’s strange to reflect on the past and be able to understand why or how things unfolded the way they did. A big one for me is starting this little daily newsletter with Jon. When we started doing this back in 2021, we were really bored in lockdown and hated our full-time jobs. We just wanted to start something that felt a little bit light-hearted and fun. We had absolutely no idea what we were in for, or that this would become our daily job, but looking back at it now I understand how and why this all happened. I know that we weren’t passionate about our corporate jobs so we were more than happy to work day and night, weekday and weekends to make this (not so) little newsletter work. This brought us
so much more joy than our boring 9 to 5 jobs AND we got to meet and speak to incredible people every day. It was a no-brainer!
So, members, it’s all well and good to look back and reflect on why things happened when they did, but we have to live life in the present. You won’t be able to understand what’s going on until you look backward, so for now just enjoy the journey. And speaking of journeys, thank you for being a part of ours. Without you, we wouldn’t be here today, so we hope you know how grateful we are to have you as a part of our little club.
Now then enough rambling from me, what happened across Australia and around the world this week?
-
My oh my, members. I had such a good laugh at this joke posted on our forum by member @Mando! If you fancy a little bit of wine, you’ll fancy this.

This week, we saw some great deals from Coles, Woolworths, ALDI, and IGA,
including 1.8 Litre Dynamo Professional Laundry Liquid for $12.50, BBQ Pork Buns for $3.75, and some bulk household staples. You can still get these deals today!
-
The Federal Budget was released this week and we’ve taken a look at EVERYTHING you need to know. Did Pensioners really win big as
predicted?
-
Speaking of the Federal Budget, here's what your fellow members had to say about it…
-
ALDI customers raved about this ‘incredible’ kitchen item that lasts for years! This is one bargain you won't want to miss!
-
You could be eligible! Here’s how one woman claimed $24,000 from a little-known refund.
-
Kmart shoppers went crazy for a $22 item that does a ‘higher quality job’ than a far more expensive $899 item.
-
Bad news, bickie fans! Arnott's announced that one of its most iconic products will no longer be available on supermarket shelves, leaving customers (including us) devastated.
-
Woolworths reintroduced a popular $12 Christmas treat and fans are racing to get their hands on it before it sells out again.
-
WATCH: A group of Australian KFC employees engage in ‘disgusting’ late-night antics, sparking outrage among fast-food customers.
-
This retailer was named one of the 'Most Distrusted Brands' yet again. Can you guess which one it is?
-
And finally, a Woolworths shopper shared their frustration at what they deem a ‘constant issue’ at the supermarket giant. Do you experience this too?
And that, ladies and gents, is a wrap of the week that was! If you’re sitting here wondering where the SDC team’s weekly wrap up is, then don’t fret! We are going to do monthly wrap ups instead! Now, I wasn’t lying when I said it has been a really big week, eh? The good news is, there’s still plenty more in store for you below, including an interesting trivia question and one of the most beautiful ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segments. I want to give a big shout-out to member @Delphine for sharing this memory with us. I absolutely loved reading it.
If you're looking for some fun games, check out our Word Association Game, Song Lyric Story Game and Rearrange, Add or Subtract Word Game!
Of course, as always we have our classic games including 3 Word Story, Can you name 5? and Be careful what you wish for. As well as our Sudoku puzzles, OzGrid and OzWord, and our Keep a Word, Drop a

As always, members, stay safe and happy reading!

I absolutely loved this story when member @Delphine first posted it on our forum. So, when I stumbled across it again this week, I knew I had to feature it in today’s newsletter! A big thank you to @Delphine for sharing this beautiful memory with us. ‘I have lots of wacky things our family did and I cherish those wacky things, especially as I lost my mum quite young from cancer! Growing up in a poor housing commission part of Sydney, my parents always found a way of rounding up some cash for Christmas. One year my 3 younger brothers were to receive a trampoline for Christmas... A normal person would set this up in the backyard, but not my Dad! He was determined for it
to be “under” the tree! He set the thing up overnight in the middle of our lounge room (moved all the furniture out) and set the tree on top of it! And Tada!!! Your present is under the tree!!!! So silly really, as then the boys had to help him dismantle the whole thing and reassemble it outside!! Kept them busy on Christmas Day.’
Oh, this made me laugh! Your dad sounds like he was the best dad! A very creative and patient one it seems! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful memory with all of us.

Good Days and Scary Days
This photo was one of the photos the lovely member @DancingDolphin posted on our forum. But do you want to know the coolest thing about this photo? This is @DancingDolphin’s backyard. Yes, she lives on a yacht! This is, of course, what her backyard looks like on a good day… On a scary day, it looks a lot different. A lot less like paradise… If you want to see the photos side by side, click here!

One of the most recognisable parts of London's skyline, The Gherkin captured world attention when it opened in the early 2000s. Officially named 30 St. Mary Axe, the building has become known by its more popular moniker, ‘The Gherkin’ because of its supposed resemblance to that particular food.
