Thursday Edition
G’day members, and a cheery Thursday morning to all of you! How are you all doing? I (Vella) hope you’re all having a fantastic week so far. It’s the last week of March already, can you believe it? Where has the time gone? Easter is right around the corner, and I bet many of you are already planning for the long weekend. Speaking of Easter, I'm looking for activities to keep my nephews, nieces, and of course, the adults entertained during the break. Any ideas? I'm thinking of doing an Easter Egg decorating contest or an Easter egg hunt. What do you think? If you have any other interesting Easter activities, feel free to share them with us in our forum here. Kids aren't the only ones who can get in on the fun, am I right?
Anyway, enough about Easter for now. We’ve got a great lineup for you, so without further ado, let’s get started.
First things first, it’s time to give you all the answer to yesterday’s tricky riddle. What was it again?
Little Miss Etticoat, in a white petticoat and a red nose; the longer she stands, the shorter she grows. What is she?
The answer, of course, is a candle! Boy, oh boy, wasn't that a tricky one? Hats off to all who solved it! You smarty pants are in for a treat today, as we've got shout-outs coming your way at the end of the newsletter.
Next on the agenda for today, it’s time to share with you a Fascinating Fact! Did you know that plants can hear you? It might sound bizarre, but it’s true. Plants react to their environment in ways that aren't always obvious. A study found that plants can discern the sound of predators through tiny vibrations in their leaves and beef up their defences accordingly. Interesting, right? That’s not all! Since plants can detect sound, research suggests they grow better when you say nice things to them rather than speaking negatively. So, next time you’re in your garden, say something nice to your plants and for all we know, they will start growing bigger and stronger!

Nature Calls Mistletoebird
Today’s picture is thanks to our dear member @Big Al. It’s a photo of a Mistletoebird, well, going to the bathroom. It may seem a bit gross at first glance, but it actually tells a fascinating story about the delicate balance of nature. According to member @Big Al, the mistletoe species, as it turns out, has a unique relationship with the Mistletoebird, without which it would not survive. The bird
eats the poisonous seeds of the mistletoe plant and, through a unique process, produces a sticky sac containing half-digested seeds that attach themselves to tree branches and ultimately germinate. Ooh, that explains why mistletoe means ‘dung-on-a-twig’. We learned something new today! Thank you, member @Big Al for sharing this fascinating photo with us. Members, if you have interesting photos you want to share, please feel free to post them on our Photography forum!
